Postdoc Fellowship Opportunity – Potential to align with International Conference for Arctic Research Planning (ICARP)

Matthew Druckenmiller December 6, 2023

Are you or anyone you know looking for a Postdoc Fellowship starting in Fall 2024? The Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences (CIRES) at the University of Colorado Boulder is inviting applications to their annual Visiting Fellows Program (VFP). The fellowships are intended to stimulate interdisciplinary research across the institute. Two-year Visiting Fellowships are available for postdoctoral researchers, and terms of up to 12 months for senior scientists on leave or sabbatical. VFP applicants require the support of a current CIRES Fellow or CIRES Senior Research Scientist, who would serve as the CIRES host if the application is successful.

The University of Colorado Boulder and CIRES will be hosting the Summit for the Fourth International Conference for Arctic Research Planning (ICARP IV) in March 2025. ICARP IV is a multi-year process to consider the most urgent knowledge gaps and Arctic research needs for the next decade, and to explore avenues to address these priorities. ICARP IV is an important milestone toward planning the next International Polar Year (IPY) in 2032/33.

If you or anyone you know may be interested in aligning a VFP application with ICARP IV in some way (for example, developing research synthesis reports or other scholarly contributions, supporting the consultation phase of ICARP IV, or leading in shaping implementation plans) please reach out to Matthew Druckenmiller (druckenmiller@colorado.edu), who is co-chairing the Local Host Committee for the ICARP IV Summit, and is an alumni of the VFP program himself.

The deadline for VFP applications is January 2, 2024. Visit the VFP webpage for more information. Applications are highly encouraged from members of groups under-represented in the environmental sciences and related disciplines.
