IARPC Hosts Listening Session on Implementation of the Arctic Research Plan 2017-2021

As the drafting of Arctic Research Plan 2017-2021 draws to a close, IARPC is turning its attention to how the Plan will be implemented. While we intend to retain aspects of the existing implementation structure, including the IARPC Collaborations platform, we will take advantage of this opportunity to make strategic changes to accommodate new activities and enhance the effectiveness of our implementation process.

In order to gather ideas on the structure, leadership, and support for implementing the next Plan, IARPC hosted a listening session with Collaboration Team leaders as well as the Plan writing teams on September 13, 2016. Brendan Kelly, Executive Director of the Study of Environmental Arctic Change and former Executive Director of IARPC, moderated the discussion. Attendees considered the motivations of IARPCCollaborations members and leaders, shared what they hope to accomplish in the next 5 years, and strategized structural changes to enhance the effectiveness of implementation.

With this valuable input, we look forward to improving communication and collaboration across our community, developing effective synergies, and accomplishing our goals. IARPC’s revised team structure will be presented along with the final Plan by the end of 2016.
