IARPC Collaborations has formed an Arctic Logistics Working Group. This group will convene Arctic logistics resource and program managers to develop partnerships across disciplinary, agency, organizational and international boundaries.

The group plans to communicate about agency field project plans in order to avoid duplication of effort in providing logistics and take full advantage of existing resources.  Additionally they will hold regular discussions about logistic needs, ideas, opportunities, best practices and progress.

Currently, NSF chairs the working group with contributions from other agencies including: NASADOI (BOEM, USGS), DHS (USCG), DOD (ONR). While the working group is limited to Federal employees only, some information from the group will be made publicly available through the IARPC Collaborations Website under the topic tag “Arctic Research Support & Logistics,” (to view these posts, request an account on our member space here).

Since formation the group has convened twice, including a presentation on the USGS’ Unmanned Aircraft Systems program by Bruce Quirk (USGS). A video of the presentation is available below.
