NRC's 2017 Decadal Survey for Earth Science and Applications from Space will play a critical role in planning for the nation, not just for NASA, but all earth science agencies conducting space-based research. Through the study, the environmental monitoring and Earth science and applications community will generate consensus recommendations for an integrated approach to the conduct of the U.S. government’s civilian space-based Earth-system science programs.

In early 2015, the NRC expects to appoint an ad hoc steering committee and a series of discipline and interdisciplinary study panels to carry out the survey. NRC seeks nominees with a broad range of relevant expertise, including scientists, engineers and other experts, including those working for a government agency.

Please consider participating or nominating your colleagues to do so by filling out the nomination form here. Note: a section for nominees whose affiliation is Cryospheric Sciences/Polar Research has recently been added.
