Arctic Ocean Exploration Funding Opportunity

November 18, 2014
By Jessica Rohde

The latest NOAA Office of Ocean Exploration & Research (OER) federal funding opportunity has been published, and it is Arctic-focused.  OER seeks to enhance ocean exploration and scientific knowledge in the Arctic by encouraging use of the rich Arctic data set collected in support of the U.S. Extended Continental Shelf (ECS) Project.

OER challenges applicants to propose multi-partner interdisciplinary exploration projects that will capitalize and build on these Arctic ECS data, and target the mapped areas in new ways, using innovative technologies to inform some of NOAA's most pressing Arctic marine science needs, and stewardship responsibilities, pursuant to NOAA's Arctic Vision and Strategy.

Details are available at this url -- http://oceanexplorer.noaa.gov/about/what-we-do/funding-opps/ffy-fy15-full.pdf and at Grants.gov (opportunity ID=269435). Please distribute this notice to anyone you think might be interested.

Pre-proposals – the prerequisite for submission of full proposals -- are due no later than 5pm EST, December 4, 2014.
