Our presenter was Eric Mohrmann, an Emergency Management Specialist with the Matanuska-Susitna Borough. Eric shared information on the Threat and Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (THIRA), the role of researchers in these assessments, and subsequent emergency and mitigation plans, particularly in low-frequency, high-hazard incidents. He highlighted two recent research studies on low-frequency, high-hazard risks and the mitigation loop currently underway.
