The Arctic is a strongly stratified ocean, due in particular to strong freshwater inputs and limited exchange with the surrounding oceans. At the same time, mixing rates are small, but expected to increase with reducing sea ice cover and increased storminess. In this session, we discussed insights on mixing processes in the Arctic Ocean and their impact on its stratification.
