In the lead up to its 35th anniversary in 2025, the International Arctic Science Committee (IASC) and partner entities are coordinating a multi-year planning process for the Fourth International Conference on Arctic Research Planning (ICARP IV).  This process will last from 2022 until 2026 and is meant to engage Arctic researchers, Indigenous Peoples, policy makers, residents, and stakeholders from around the world to collegially discuss the state of Arctic science, the place the Arctic occupies in global affairs and systems.  Under this process, ICARP-IV is assembling Research Priority Teams (RPTs) on seven different topics.

This meeting introduced the US Arctic Atmospheric Research community to the ICARP-IV process, and fostered discussion on ICARP-IV Research Topic 1: “The Role of the Arctic in the Global System."
