By Jessica Rohde

The 10th Ministerial Meeting of the Arctic Council was held on Thursday, 11 May 2017, in Fairbanks, Alaska. It was an occasion for the United States to hand over the chairmanship of the Arctic Council to Finland, and for the release of two important documents: (1) the binding Agreement on Enhancing International Arctic Scientific Cooperation, and (2) the Fairbanks Declaration of the Foreign Ministers of the Arctic States. A comprehensive list of statements by individual ministers and representatives of the permanent participants (Indigenous Peoples), reports by Arctic Council Working Groups, and other documents is available here.
